DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE FOR BALTIMORE COUNTY EXECUTIVE
Mansoor Shams for Baltimore County Executive

1

Household Stabilizing Fund

We'll create a Household Stabilizing Fund to provide up to $250 a month for households earning under $75,000 a year. This is money to help cover essential needs like housing, healthcare, food, and utilities without stigma.

2

County Mini Marts

We’ll create mini marts across the county for selling essential goods inside existing county properties. These hubs will offer twenty basics at low prices, meaning food, formula, and essentials will always be available nearby and affordable.

3

Senior Property Tax Reform

We will work with the council to reduce property taxes for senior and disabled-veteran homeowners living in their primary residence. County property taxes will be reduced at 50% at age 65, and eliminated at age 70.

AFFORDABILITY AND ACCESS

Mansoor Shams is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, public servant, and community advocate running in the Democratic primary for Baltimore County Executive to address a crisis of affordability and access in Baltimore County.

Mansoor currently serves Baltimore County as the first-ever Community Engagement and Outreach Officer for the Department of Recreation and Parks, working to ensure county programs are work well for all residents.

Mansoor's wife works as substitute teacher in the Baltimore County Public schools, where all four of his children attend or have graduated from. His son serves as a cadet for the Baltimore County Police. Mansoor believes the government has a responsibility to help everyone living and working across the county, not just donors and developers.

Mansoor is nationally recognized for his work bringing people together and fighting prejudice as the founder of MuslimMarine.org. He holds a master’s degree in government with an emphasis on national security studies, as well as an MBA from Johns Hopkins University.
